Cordless impact driver for heavy-duty driving

A cordless impact driver drives screws and bolts in at high speed thanks to short, powerful bursts on the rotary mechanism. That lets you set high torque without your wrist absorbing the kickback, ideal for assembly, construction and disassembly. The impact mechanism engages automatically as resistance builds, so the screw keeps turning home where an ordinary drill driver stalls.

Most models have a 1/4 inch hex holder for bits and socket adapters, and run on battery platforms from 12 V for light work to 18 V for the heavier job. Torque varies widely, from around 60 Nm to well over 200 Nm for coarse fastening. Choose a compact model for work at height and in tight spaces, and a powerful version for sustained heavy work. Watch the torque, the speed and whether it fits your existing battery system.

Many versions are available as a bare tool without battery and charger. Brands such as Makita, Milwaukee, Bosch and DeWalt supply impact drivers for construction and the workshop. That way you drive every fastener fast and under control.
